The EBC Green Logistics challenge: protecting couriers and reducing environmental impact

EBC is an urban sustainability project born in 2011 under the name of Ecobike Courier – Couriers by bicycle. Then it evolved by adding electric vans and, in 2020, Ecobike Courier became EBC Green Logistics, the first sustainable logistics company based in Genoa.

Now  there are several urban services and also the “LINE 0”, the first project of sustainable suburban logistics (Genoa/Milan) born from the collaboration with Urban Bike Messengers, companies of independent urban couriers in Milan, who for over 10 years have been involved in green logistics. The cargo/vans full electric guarantee a delivery entirely to 0 emissions.

During the lockdown period, the company provided a new service- “#momdelivery”: door delivery, delivery alert, delivery in 24 hours and dedicated customer care line.

During these difficult months, the managers of the company provided an additional insurance in order to protect their workers, stating as follows:  “In our opinion, work must not only be functional to the quality of life, but above all useful to live better. Whenever we don’t want to pay the cost of the delivery service at home, someone else is paying for that delivery, usually the one who does it materially, so let’s think about it. We are sure that our philosophy will change something”. From a simple service of delivery goods on two wheels, EBC has evolved, managing to break the rules of both the market and delivery.
