UNO participates in a European project for the training and safety of couriers
The European Union has launched a project to promote and improve the driving of last mile delivery drivers, as well as their safety, called ‘Training for Last Mile Deliverers / Drivers in Safe and Sustainable Urban Areas’ (TRALMEDES). Among others, the Spanish employers’ association of logistics and transport operators UNO participates in the hands of a consortium of European logistics platforms. The Spanish consulting firm PONS Seguridad Vial will lead this community consortium, in which different organizations and companies from different EU countries participate, such as the Finnish Tyotehosuera Ry, the Italian Training 200 psc or the Bulgarian Logistics Association.
From the employers’ association of logistics operators, it is emphasized that the ecosystem of the last mile faces challenges driven by the increased use of new technologies based on mobile phones and electronic commerce ”that are leading to a“ rapid evolution and adaptation of the sector to the demands of the cities of the future ”. Although at present “there is a growing awareness of sustainability and safety in urban areas, there is no training model specifically focused on those responsible for this type of transport.”
The initiative will offer solutions through “adapted and accessible” training platforms for drivers
