The last mile delivery is the future of micro-enterprises: the PonyU Express case
PonyU is a startup born from the idea of three young entrepreneurs from Italy who have created a new model of last mile urban logistics. PonyU Express can help people who need to deliver or receive a parcel, staying comfortably at home. The startup has developed an efficient logistic model with a high rate of automation. How does it work?
Starting from the idea that the package must not start from the central warehouse, if it is present in a point of sale closer to the recipient: it will be the retailer to book the single shipment directly from the platform. The PonyU express will go to the point indicated and will deliver to the address of the recipient. In this way it supports the commerce of proximity and the delivery time reduced as well as the CO2 emissions.
The PonyU Express provides its last mile deliverers different vehicles of transport, including electric – bikes, scooters or vans: it is then the algorithm that assigns to each driver the most suitable delivery based on the route to be taken (for example, pedestrian or suburban) and the size of the package. Each delivery is optimized for travel times, because it is entrusted to the driver closest to the point of sale or collection that can use the different vehicles of the Ponyu fleet – bikes, scooters and even electric vans – to make the delivery as fast as possible.
