LAST MILE DELIVERY

ROAD SAFETY, SUSTAINABILITY AND TRAINING

The European project ‘Training for Last Mile Deliverers/Drivers in Safe and Sustainable Urban Areas (TRALMEDES)’ arises from the need of the logistics sector to promote road safety awareness and adapted training to the growth experienced by the Last Mile Delivery in these recent years.

The project will work on developing a proposal for road and mobility awareness and training programs based on the implementation of new technologies to increase and improve the driving skills of delivery drivers, promote sustainable mobility and reduce road accidents.

‘Training for Last Mile Deliverers/Drivers in Safe and Sustainable Urban Areas” project has been co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union and partially financially supported by Movetia.

BACKGROUND

CHALLENGE

Last Mile ecosystem is facing challenges driven by the increase in the use of new mobile-based trading technologies and e-commerce, the increase conciousness about sustainability and safety in urban areas. All these challenges are causing a high speed evolution and adaptation of the logistics sector to the demands of the cities of the future. No training model focused especially on those responsible for this type of transport is already developed.

OBJECTIVE

WHAT WE WANT TO ACHIEVE

The objective of the project is to develop open and innovative online e-learning material and platform for delivery drivers, trainers and companies (freight forwarders, courier companies, independent drivers and couriers, click and collect retailers, self-service parcel lockers and postal service destination centers) involved in the last mile delivery sector, enabling them to perform their work with specific skills for last mile delivery ensuring safer and more sustainable cities.
